I have a 98 machine, with a harddrive i have been trying
to install. the second harddrive has 2000 on it, and i
have tried to slave it off....auto detected in bios, but
when windows loads....i do not see the harddrive and none
of the data. Why is this so?

You haven't described your setup enough to accurately state your problem.
I'm hazarding a guess, but from reading your text it appears you have a C:
Windows 98, D: Windows 2000. How did you install Windows 2000? Did you
install it on this machine? The C: drive doesn't have the Windows 2000 boot
loader, so it's not going to boot you into Windows 2000.

Search knowledge base on "dual boot" "Windows 98" and "Windows 2000" and
post more information if you need more assistance.

Ok,
I have 98 installed on one machine. I have another hard
drive that has Windows 2000 on it that was used for a
different computer. The windows 2000 hard drive is not
booting up correctly. I have about 1gb worth of info on
the 2000 HD to save. Therefore im not looking for a dual
boot. Rather just want to see the information on the
2000 hard drive once i have booted to the Windows 98 OS.

Nate,

The problem is if your Windows 2000 disk is formatted NTFS, the Windows 98
won't be able to read it. There may be third party products that can allow
you to do this (I don't know of any). I'd move the Win2K disk back to the
original computer, place the Win98 disk as "slave" on the IDE of that
machine, and copy the files over from Win2K to the FAT32 formatted Win98
disk.
