That computer should run Vista fine. You will have to run the Vista upgrade
from within a qualifying OS. There is no provision to insert a CD with a
qualifying OS during the upgrade. Some people have said this procedure
works.

I haven't tested it. It may be against the licensing terms of the upgrade
EULA.
