hard drive crashed - restoring files and settings

sony pcg grt170
winxp pro sp2 (upgraded)
hard drive developed bad sectors in system files area
ran xcopy for C:\* to (usb) D:\badc\*
(some files failed; used /c switch)
installed new C:
installed new XP pro
xcopy'd from E:\badc\* to C:\*
(open system files not replaced, etc)

Now...

How can I restore old registries, drivers, etc, from USB copy to current?
No system restore/backup/etcetcetc available
