However....outside the realms of MM2, you could try one of these.
All they'll do is split the avi files where you mark them on the preview
window.
http://nickyguides.digital-digest.co...-split-avi.htm
Even if you don't visit that link, it might be worth reading the following
paragraph:
"As a word of warning, please do not use AVIChop, Pecks Power Join or AVI
Devil to try and chop an AVI because you are likely to get corrupt files.
The following will describe how to cut and join Divx files, but the same
method will work with any AVI, MJPEG, ASF or popular format that VirtualDub
can open. The exception to this is Mpeg-1 & 2 but I'll explain how to do
that in another article =). This method doesn't require that we re-encode
any file, all we are doing is cutting them."
With that in mind, you could also try one of these utils below.

I used virtualdub when I was doing the splitting, but IIRC, it didn't like
one of the dv-avi formats. Things might have changed since then.
Sorry to take it out of the realms of MM2, but I think I know what you're
trying to achieve, and if it's literally splitting at certain points and
nothing more, you'll probably find the above methods easier
