Gmail Notifier: http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/

The Gmail Notifier is a downloadable Windows application that alerts you
when you have new Gmail messages. It displays an icon in your system tray to
let you know if you have unread Gmail messages, and shows you their
subjects, senders and snippets, all without your having to open a web
browser.

Gmail has automatic forwarding now. It works nicely.

I suspect it will be a pay feature, considering the "What's new on Gmail?"

We're testing a new feature that lets you forward new incoming messages to
any email account you want. It's free during the test and you can set it up
in seconds. Even set up filters to forward only some of your messages. It's
your mail. Get it the way you want it.

And for the past four days, it hasn't been forwarding to me

System Requirements

To use the Gmail Notifier, you need Windows 2000, Windows XP, or a more
recent version of Windows.

Are you running 98 by chance? I am so I can't use this program.
