gif files in vista

hi guys, i might be a bit of a dummy with this question, but i would like to
know why can i see the gif files that i make myself in my emails that i send
to people, and not able to display them on my desktop background.they will
not show the animation. i would really appreciate some ones advice, because
it is really frustrating me!!!!

I have the same problem with tif files - they can't be used as the desktop
background. Do you have an answer on the gif files yet?
