I don't own any Cano printer to know much or any about Canon printer. I
have been using third party or refill my own for Epson printers, and all my
Epson printers live lot longer than I have expected.
Example the last Epson Photo Stylus 900 I used to print many thousands of
DVD labels to the point that I have to too it apart to clean the Wasted Ink
PADs twice (or for most people it won't even happen ONCE). It was still
print sharp text and photo, but the problem that the TRAY to hold the DVD
got wore out badly that I have already taped to make it thicker or get
better traction, and I guess some gear wore out too so I had to give it a
little push to get it started. After awhile, I have had enough of it to I
tossed it away to replace with the newer model.
And getting third party ink and refillable ink catridge was the first
thing I do. I have been using it daily for a little over a year, and it's
still kicking fine. I have refilled somewhere around 20-25 times, and I
believe a set of 6 colors may cost me around $100 for a set of 6 colors.
