Hi everyone

I got two cards here:

1. A9250 128MB DDR ATI

2. FX5200 NVidia 128MB DDR

Which one out of the two is the better card?

A9250

8 x AGP
Core: 240Mhz
Pipes: 4
Memory: 200Mhz

FX5200:

8 x AGP
Core: 240Mhz
Pipes: 2
Memory: 200Mhz

So, the ATI pips on the Pipes

what does that pipe bit actually mean then?

"pips on the pipes."

that sounds like a tounge twister!

The 9250 is probably a little better, but both cards are pretty old.

The pipes are simply the amount of buses on each card for the digital information to travel along.

The more pipes there are, the faster information travels and is therefore processed.

ahh got you thanks guys

the one difference that I think is huge for me is nvidia and ati

do you know if ati has this option of colour correction where you can turn on digital vibrance?

as things stand i got the fx5200 installed in a system and the a9250 lying in a box!
but do remember that the a9250 didnt have this digital vibrance thing

Methinks you're being a tad over-fussy now.

They are both old cards and tbh I don't think you'd really see much difference in performance between the two.

From the period when those cards were manufactured Nvidia were making better graphics cards, imo.

So, despite the ATI's specs being slightly better, I'd actually use the 5200, it's an excellent little card.

I don't know anything about this 'digital vibrance' sounds a little risque to me, tbh

Me fussy? never!!!

I am happy with a simplistic lifestyle!

I will stick with the FX 5200
don't do much gaming, but I will try out gaming on the card you sold me the Geforce 6200 on my main machine
