I had someone design a template for my website noralcoinstruments.com and I
can't figure out how to apply it properly. Basically, it was a photoshop file
that was delivered as a JPEG. I sliced the left navigation and top banner
into two images and applied them as shared borders. I am not happy with the
way the page loads and would like to get the entire image applied as one. Can
someone please direct me on how to do this or a website that explains how to
design and apply templates. Thanks.

Did he actually give you a template or sliced images?

If you're trying to use sliced images you may not be able to achieve a tight design using shared borders because of spacing issues.

The way I do it is with layout tables, once you have your empty tables figured out...lets say one for 2 column, one for 3 column pages...you use your sliced images either as cell backgrounds or images in each cell.

Have you talked this over with the person who designed
the template? What specifications did you provide them
before you entered into a contract with them? What sort
of warranty do you have with them?

Thanks Rob. How would you then share it amongst all the pages?

It's a friend who's helping me out with this so there is no problem making
changes. I'm just looking for information on doing it the right way. Thanks.

I'd create 2 'templates' of my own... a 2column and a 3 column table with the sliced images but no content just your design images. You could save them as .tem (template extension) or just save them as something like blank_2col.htm, blank_3col.htm and use them as templates for each new page you create then do a Save As to your final page name when your done. Yah, kinda a manual method.

With the .tem method you'd create a new page by selecting New From Template and browse to you .tem pages you created. New From Template appears in that right hand column New Page or Web thing - at least in FP2002 it does.
