FP2000 Publishing Problem

My host moved our web site to a newer server after having problems with
publishing to the old one. We are still experiencing the same issues, as
follows;

At the beginning of Processing Web Updates a window pops up stating "The
server sent a response which FP could not parse. If you are trying to
connect to FP server, check with the server's administrator to make sure the
FP server extensions are installed properly". We checked, they are!

The next time, after the Processing Web Updates window, we received a pop up
window to re-enter our user name and password, but every time we insert it
and hit the ok button (or Enter on keyboard) the same window pops back up
again. This is strange since we can load our web from the server, so our ID
and PW works. I also tried to upload one of our Sub Webs and it will not go
in. I used Corel site manager to upload the Sub Web, but when I tried to go
to the page on the web I received a IE browser window that said I was not
authorized to view the page. Does Microsoft ever make anything that JUST
WORKS?

Dan

If this a large site or a site with a few large files?

What kind of internet connection do you have?

Since you are doing a complete republish, it might be best to open the live
site directly in FP, and make sure under Tools | Web Settings | Advanced
that view hidden directories is enabled, then delete all old web content,
with the exception of the _private folder and images folder, just delete any
content within these two folders, then run Tools | Recalculate Hyperlinks.

Then open you local copy and select Publish all pages. If you have subwebs,
publish then individually after publishing the root web.

The site, with 3 sub webs is about 50MB. The connection is 56k modem, not
getting disconnected, so this isn't the problem. I will try your suggestions
herein. the web is http://www.imagelair.com, the sub web I mentioned is
http://www.imagelair.com/barbaracostello.

When you say to remove all files with the exception of the _private folder
and images folder, are you including the vti, etc. files?

I am not using FTP, but as you said, FP2000. I don't see any vti folders, I
just remembered they were up on the server when I tried to publish after the
fail FP2000 attempt with Webmaster Site Manager.

I am deleting as you said, but there are two partial sub webs on the server
which I apparently do not have permission to delete because a window pops
that relates to not being able to access a FP.lck file. What do I do about
this?

You host need to run a check or re-install the extensions.
