How can I disable my firewall to download music and burn music? When I try to follow the directions MicroSoft gave me, it doesn't work.

Start>Control Panel>Network Connections. Right click on the connection icon and go to properties, then the advanced tab. Uncheck the box thats says "Protect this computer...."

You do NOT need to disable your firewall in order to download or burn.
Disabling your firewall while online is a BAD idea.

Or are you talking about bypassing the firewall at work, which your employer
has set up to prevent employees using filesharing software? If so, this is
also a BAD idea.

Regards,
Ian.

I am a novice, but when i use winmx i have to disable my firewall for aa
brief time just for winmx to make a connection. Then, when i ahve found a
song to download (mp3) i just have to turn off the firewall until a
connection have been established with the other user, then i can turn it on
again, this only usually take s few seconnds. It seems the only way for me
to do it. I am sure you can bypass this feature, but i dont know enough
about winxp/winmx setup configeration.

You don't mention which firewall you're using, but you should find the info
on this page very helpful: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.buchanan/ The
entire site is full of great information regarding winMX.

Hope that helps,
Ian.
