I can't find three files that have been detected by Pest Patrol (free version)

windows@advertising[1].txt
(E-Mail Removed)[1].txt
windows@doubleclick[1].txt

I can't find them by opening the c:\windows\cookies\ folder,
or by using Windows Scout.
I also tried to make visible all invisible files for the map \cookies.

Pest Patrol says they're there, but I can't find them.
They're also invisible to the Cookiemonster program.

Also, there is a registry entry for Alexa Adware.

It's probably finding history of them in your registry. What option to
you get from Pest Patrol? I'm not familiar with the product. Maybe it
will clean entries from the registry?

Try spybot from
http://security.kolla.de/index.php?l...&page=download
and adaware from
http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/

Also, take a look at http://www.claymania.com/safe-hex.html

They may be in IE's cache - the "temporary internet files" folder.

Open a DOS box and type the following three lines:

move "c:\windows\cookies\windows@advertising[1].txt" c:\windows\temp
move "c:\windows\cookies\(E-Mail Removed)[1].txt" c:\windows\temp
move "c:\windows\cookies\windows@doubleclick[1].txt" c:\windows\temp

Do you mean the Eval version?
as they don't od a freebie.

Probably deleted by CookiePatrol, part of the product.
