I chose to keep my files FAT32 when i loaded in win 2000 over the existing
win 98SE files.
then i bought a new HD, WD250 GB. and placed it off of a Sabrent Cntrlr
card.
i used WD Ontrack s/w to fdisk/format it hoping to make that FAT32 as well,
but it would not allow FAT32 past 25 MB and auto changed to NTFS.

i tried to convert it back
convert K: /fs:fat32 /v
didn't work.
before i add any files to this drive, is there anyway to do this as i am
concerned with mixing the 2 types of files on one computer.
comments?

Hello ssome,

FAT32 and NTFS can coexist without any problem.

Best regards

Remember that NTFS cannot be read by W98 or earlier. I have a number of
drives on a W98se system using a daughter board for the larger drives
and have partitions up to 200gb on those drives formatted in FAT32. A
friend recently lost access to his files on his NTFS partitions using
XPpro in an unusual manner. Drive properties indicate most of the space
used but when he looks for his files they do not appear in Windows
Explorer and when he tries typing is the filename address of a .jpg file
he knows was there it cannot be found. In another group a user
indicated a similar problem. Very isolated but I have not seen any
reports of this nature with FAT32. Drives have not indicated small free
space with no files present. Perhaps someone else has seen similar
drive errors. NTFS definitely uses the drive space more efficiently but
due to OS limitations vs the more universal access to FAT32 I stay with
FAT32. Everyone has their own reasons.
