File enumeration issue

I have a NT4 server that is our main file storage area.
Several folders have a large number of files in them.

When I access these folders from a windows 98 box it
takes about 1 second to list all the files in the folder.

Accessing the same folder on a Windows XP workstation it
takes up to 10 seconds to list the same files.

Any one have any ideas?
