my 80g.b. external hard drive is emitting a clicking sound, and of the 1200
objects i have put on the drive it is now only showing 400 objects, though
the space used for the 1200 objects is still showing the same space being
used ie.12.4 g.b.i also get the message ( your computer has a i/o problem.)

The drive is dying. Check the guarantee on it. Get the data onto some
other media and backed up asap.
