I am a consultant who spends most of my time at customer site. I usually join
customer's domain to work effectively. How can I access my exchange account
which is, of course, not on my customer's domain. Every attempt so far has
failed.

Depends on which remote access methods have been made available to you. VPN
and RPC over HTTP are the 2 most common ways. Ask your corporate admin for
the method and server details you need to use.
