excel - always wants to save changes

's Computer Specifications

how can i find what is making excel do this? i make no changes, import
nothing, have no auto updates, have even marked the workbook as final. all i
have to do is open the workbook and do nothing, close it and it wants to save
changes...

excel 2007, windows vista

's Computer Specifications

does it have a lot of formulas?
was it last saved in an earlier version?
does it use volatile functions (indirect, offset, now, today etc etc)?

can you give us some more info about the file?
