Bob Buckland, MS Office System Products MVP suggested I post my question in
this forum. So here I go:

After I installed Office 2007 beta, Dreamweaver 8 keeps giving me this error
every time I try to open a page;

While execution onLoad in _onOpen.htm, the following Javascript error(s)
occurred:

In file "_onOpen":
ReferenceError: onOpen is not defined

I tried to remove and reinstall DW8, plus I updated java BUT no cigar...

Can anyone help?

This is probably not relevant to the FrontPage forums, wouldn't you think?

> plus I updated java BUT no cigar

This would certainly have no effect on a javascript error.

However, you can try this simple fix -

Quit DW.

Find this file -

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration\WinFileCache\
(these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use Explorer > Tools >
Folder Options to unhide them)

and delete it.

Restart DW. Works better?

WARNING - installing ANY beta software on a production/development system is
a deeply dangerous thing to do....

>> I tried to remove and reinstall DW8, plus I updated java

I had a similar problem -
I installed a new faucet in my bathroom sink. Now, the sink overflows while
I'm sleeping, and my floor keeps getting wet. So, I removed and replaced the
floor tile, plus I got a new shower curtain, but the floor still keeps
getting wet.

The guy who sold me the faucet said I need to talk to an electrician. Can
anyone help?

Uh, lets see....
You installed beta software, had problems, and tried to fix it by modifying
existing programs that previously worked.

hmmm.....
What do you think should be the next step?

How this wound up on the FP forums still baffles me, but I'll take a guess -
a smack upside the head? 8)

By the way, the link to the Dreamweaver forums is -

news://forums.macromedia.com/macromedia.dreamweaver

or the Webforum at

http://webforums.macromedia.com/dreamweaver.
