After ripping cd tracks and successfully uploading to my new mp3 player I encountere
problems- error in transferring files. This occured with apparently 74MB left to fill
What can I do to overcome this problem?

Depends what the error message was. Re-post with the COMPLETE message.

You were trying to transfer more files than your MP3 player could hold i
its memory.
