My parents (pensioners!) had several viruses and infected
files. With the help of Technical Support I've cleaned up
their PC and installed AVG anti virus. However, they're
still getting an error message:

RUNDLL
Error loading
C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files\Bridge.dll

Previously it then read (Access Denied) but now it's
reading (Specified Mode cannot be found).

Can I talk them through a 'quick fix' or should they
contact Technical Support? (They are both technophobes!)

Please, someone help me!

"Bridge.dll" is a remnant of a spyware file and should be deleted.

Adware.WinFavorites (see "Deleting the values from the registry")
http://securityresponse.symantec.com...favorites.html

Download Ad-aware SE and scan your PC for the presence of spyware:

Symantec Security Check

bridge.dll from my understanding is spyware. When you
cleaned up the computer you successfully got rid of this
spyware. bridge.dll is in the startup for Windows.
Everytime Windows starts it was supposed to load up. So
now that it is missing it still looks to startup hence
you get the error message. To remove this message go to
start>run type msconfig. Click the startup tab. Find
the entry where bridge.dll is listed then uncheck it.
Restart your computer and you should be good to go!

Regards,

Tony

Hi

I don't know what you have been through with Tech. Support, but:

bridge.dll is part of some spyware - have a look here:

http://www.pestpatrol.com/PestInfo/w...tes_bridge.asp

Also try these programs to check for any spyware that may be on your system:

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://forum.aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip
Try SpyWareBlaster to stop intrusions:

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Also see the following links:

http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
