Hi,

I recently tried to install some software, but failed with error 1935...

Error 1935. An error occured during the installation of assembly component
{303994BA-6487-47AE-AF1D-7AF6088EEBDB}. HRESULT: 0x80070002

I was told the work around was to install msxml 4.0 sp2.
When I attempted to install the file msxml.msi I got the same error. Here is
a sample from the log...

MSI (s) (D8:FC) [08:35:04:562]: Assembly Error:The system cannot find the
file specified.

So I it would appear that I need to find a work around for the work around.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Remove the partial installation of the software from your computer.Also
remove the previous versions of MSXML from the computer,then try to
install MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2.

To uninstall the previous MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 1
Start>Run>Type or copy and paste the following into the Open box and
click OK:

msiexec /qn /x {35343FF7-939B-401A-87B3-FF90A5123D88}

To uninstall MSXML 4.0:-
start>Run>Type or copy and paste the following into the Open box and
click OK:

msiexec /qn /x {2AEBE10C-D819-4EBF-BC60-03BF2327D340}

Once both of the previous installations have been removed, use the
msxml.msi file to install the MSXML 4 Sp2 updates.

SP2 works just fine for the vast majority. Most of the systems that have
problems with it have some underlying issues prior to SP2 such as defective
hardware, operating errors, malware, incompatible drivers, etc. You should
not update a system to SP2 that is not running properly. Sorry I can't help
with your problem but SP2 works well despite what you may have "heard".
