error 1919 ? apparent registry problem

I recently upgraded WPOffice2002 to WPOffice11, then
removed the old program (WPOffice2002.) The process of
uninstalling WPOffice2002 apparently removed some drivers
or changed some registry settings, the result of which is
that I am now unable to open some applications.

When trying to launch certain applications I get a window
which says "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft
Office 2000 SR-1 Standard." After clicking on cancel a
number of times, some applications open. If I do not
click on cancel the installation aborts with the message "
Error 1919 Error configuring ODBC Data Source: MS Access
Database, ODBC Error 6: component not found in the
registry. Verify that the file MS Access Database exists
and that you can access it.

In other cases, the launch just fails.

I am using Windows 2000 Professional (and MS Office 2000.)

Please help, if possible.

Thanks.
