ERD / ASR queries

Does anyone out there think it is worth whlie making regular ASR or ERD disks
in addition to daily full backups on servers or is it a bit of overkill. I
know the theory behind them but are they of much benefit in practice?

I just copy the files to a network share so I can recreate when necessary.
I do the same with the ERD files, tip 7310.
