elecard mpeg2 decoder problem

I installed Elecard MPEG decoder 2.0 hoping it would allow me to view DVDs.
It did not, but the problem is that any and all uninstallation attempts
blocked at the first item. In the end I had to manually unregister files and
delete them. Any other solution for this problem? Is there a way to make it
work with DVDs? Fraunhofer decoder is terrible.
