Can I edit an existing Frontpage document in Dreamweaver and then
publish it back to the original Frontpage site with Dreamweaver?

Maybe not, especially if you use the Frontpage extensions

DW's publish method may corrupt the extensions just like FTP progs would . I
assume DW probably just publishes as FTP mode, but I don't know if it has a
similar "http:" mode like Frontpage.

If you don't use the Frontpage extensions, then I'm sure you can use
Dreamweaver all you wish.

Create the site in DW and then use FP to publish it.
