Whenever I attempt to edit a photo gallery, no matter what changes I make, I
click on OK and FrontPage produces a progress bar that says "Generating
thumbnails for photo gallery" The progress bar quickly moves to the end and
then the program just sits there. It is not frozen, but the only way to
continue is to either close the progress bar window (X box in the corner) or
press the cancel button. Either way, I'm unable to save any of the changes
that I made to the photo gallery.

It makes it a little pointless to have an editable photo gallery, don't you
think? Any suggestions?

FP photo gallery is flakey sometimes - sometimes it balks at large or too many images..sometimes its fine.

You may want to check out third party album generators, like JAlbum (free) and it's skinnable.

Hi,

This can happen, if there is a corruption in current user profile. Create
a new user, login to the computer using that computer and then try again

I am having the same problem after adding a new pic, the Progress box just
hangs. I'm running Frontpage 2003 - and the problem occurs on both on my XP
Pro laptop and my Win2K desktop (I'm fully up-to-date with all Windows
updates).
I even had the problem on the laptop with only four 450KB thumbs in the
gallery, so quanity and size doesn't seem to matter. It'll generate thumbs
on the first attempt only, subsequent editing leads to a Progress Dialog hang
everytime. Hitting Cancel doesn't work for me, I have to "X" it.
Deleting the Photo Gallery and starting over is the only way I've found to
"update" it. This appears to be a recurring bug across multiple editions of
FP (MS FP developers, are you listening?. As suggested, I'll resort to
using JAlbum.

The Photo Gallery could be a great tool but the issue it does not work.
Will MS be fixing this issue?

I tried it it did not work. I can't beleive that MS is not addressing this
problem. This is why people get ****ed off at MS, the customer support is
sometimes lacking.
