I have taken over the maintenance of a website for fun. I cannot
upload a new document file to a category that has a drop down menu, and
then publish it successfully to the remote website. Whenever I attempt
to view what I've edited and published on the actually website itself,
it displays a blank page that says that "the page could not be found".

Can anyone lead me step by step through the process and possible
correct the mistake I'm making?

Are you viewing the correct file by its actual name? For example, if
your webpage is named something like: mypage.html, then your link should
be to mypage.html.
