I have a database I use in FP 2003. I set it up with BDW to include EDIT.
My only problem is that the EDIT function preserves the index number and does
what it is supposed to, it EDITS the existing record. I need it to write the
edited record back with a new index key instead.

How can I do this?

Do an insert instead. If you're changing the key it isn't an "edit"
