the edges of my screen have started to have a ripple
affect. Does this mean that my monitor is going bad? or
is it something to do with my CPU?

Be sure that the connector between monitor and PC is secure - at both ends.

If there are any devices close to the monitor that produce a magnetic
field, move them away.

Try another monitor, or try your monitor on another system.

Specifically your speakers! If they are powerful and unshielded this is
exactly what you will see.

or a floresent lamp, or a high voltage halogen lamp. I've even seen nearby
cell phones do it when they're active.
