Echo effect

Every sound my computer makes now sounds like it is
coming from a deep cave. Everything. It has been like
this for a few days now. I believe it started when I had
Diablo II and iTunes running simultaneously.
The only time the problem goes away is when Diablo II is
open.
Any suggestions?
