I am trying to use a Dynalink 1456VQC-T5 (PCMCIA) modem on
Win2000. This exact modem is not listed on Dynalink's
homepage (which is in Dutch, by the way!!). I got this
used PC Card and need to make it work before Jan 1, since
my ADSL is being shut down (no money to pay for it
anymore...). I tried: 1) Installing driver for 1456VQC
from Dynalink.com (which is said to support W2K). 2) Using
Microsoft's driver for "Standard PC CARD Modem" (which is
what the Plug-and-play functionality names the modem).
None of these mothods help me. Windows refuses to accept
my modem. Just says: Error code 10, modem not functioning
properly, or something. NO HELP as to WHAT may be the
problem, after hours of trouble shooting and rebooting my
old and very slow PC. Anyone? Please?

You're likely doomed.

If you really need to get online, just go
get another *supported* modem. The money
you save by not having to treat the stomach ulcers
you're gonna get trying to make this work will more
than pay for it.

I have found modem-drivers.com to be a good resourse for this kind of
thing. No guarentees, of course.
