Hi,

I have 2 DVDs installed and suddenly the DVD-ROM ceased to work. It doesn't
matter what I use: CD, DVD
it does not recognize the drive and it issues a message:
Please insert a disk in drive F:
I used the device manager to uninstall the drive and I installed it back,
but all is the same.

Thanks
Doru

Replace the drive, the laser has probably died.

Thanks for the reply. It's a bit over 1 year old, is Samsung that much
unreliable?

I've had them die in less than that, particularly if they are used a lot.
They are more reliable than they used to be.

Is it recognized correctly in Device Manager and in the BIOS as an optical
drive?
