I have a DVD drive and DVD/RW and suddenly they have both decided just show
up in My Computer and work as CD ROM's but the really ironic thing is if I go
into Device Manger they are listed correctly (Pioneer DVD-120 & Pioneer
DVR-111). I have tried deleting them and rebooting and I have also updated
their firmware and flashed the BIOS but to no avail. I do not get any kind of
errors and they read CD's fine but that is all.

Please Help!!!!!

Thanks in advance

Vince

Use the above link to see if the value data for your drive type is correct..
What burning app or apps do you have installed..?

Thanks for that I will look into it, but it is not just burning that is the
problem.

I Generally use Nero 7 to burn but i also use the in-built XP drag and drop
burning as well.

I have tried that and it hasn't done the trick I have also tried system
restore to when I know it was last working and that didn't help either.

I am really at my wits ends!!!!

What, well that's the problem then.. You need to disable the XP inbuilt CD
Wiz and use Nero's Incd for drag & drop burning to CD/DVD-/+RW media..
XP has no inbuilt ability to burn to DVD anything, unless your using XP MCE,
still I would disable XP inbuilt abilities in favor of the Nero suite of
tools..
Running both can cause instability and the problems you are experiencing..
XP's inbuilt burning capabilities are very basic to say the least, do
yourself a favor and loose it, use Nero 7 exclusively..

Use Nero's InCd for drag & drop, just disable XP's CD burning Wiz.. In My
Computer, right click the drive, properties, recording tab, uncheck the box
"enable CD recording on this drive", apply your changes..
Another way would be to type Services.msc in the run box and set the IMAPI
CD Burning Service to manual for start up type, apply your changes...
