-- Dear members,
I bought a DVD & CD burner (writer) today and rightly fixed it to my
computer, it came with a CD ROM, after that I went to my computer to see if
it is installed, to my surprise it is not, I placed the CD in the CD driveE,
which is not working, it is corrupt, now what should I do to install it,
should I buy a new CD drive just to install it, as it will not be needed
after that as I can use the the newly bought DVD & CD burner, please advise.

If it doesn't show up in "My Computer" and no CDs are working in it then
chances are that you didn't installed it correctly. Make sure you have all
the cables properly fitted behind the DVD/RW drive. Unplug them and plug them
back in if necessary. Also, make sure that the jumpers are set correctly.

Remove your old CD-Rom drive as it has failed. Check the back of your new
DVDRW there will be a jumper bay make sure it is set the same as your old
CD-Rom. Plug your new drive in place of the old one with all the same cables
it had plugged into it. You should be up and running.

Hi Kemco,
I used to have a CD writer which went totally corrupt, and I placed the
newly bought DVD and CD writer (burner) in its place and reconected the same
wires to it, and in the same places, the jumper and the other one, (I do not
know what it is called), only two connections, so I do not know how could one
go wrong.
