This will clear the filters if you don't want to do it manually..

You're correct, MS drivers should be enough to get them to work/show up in
XP, though burning/packet writing apps like Nero's InCD, Sonic DLA, etc.,
can add additional drivers as well..

Your time zone is incorrect.

If you are indeed in Western Australia, -0800 is not correct, that's Pacific
Time in the US.

Hi,

Running Windows XP SP2 - recently upgraded (installed over) Windows 2000
SP4.

I have a CD-RW and a DVD drive that are showing exclamation marks in Device
Manager:
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be
corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

I was of the belief that Windows XP did not need specific drivers to allow
optical drives to work.

They are both LG drives:
GCE-8240B CD-RW
HL-DT-ST GSA-H22N DVD-RAM

I'm unable to find specific drivers for these drives either on www.lge.com
or on www.driverguide.com (which only lists firmware)

I've installed the latest chipset drivers for my motherboard, which is a VIA
VT8601; the chipset drivers included IDE drivers.

I'm unsure how to proceed.

Any suggestions?

Might make no difference at all but double click the clock in your system
tray and set your zone and correct time. It shows that this post was posted
at 6:45 PM today. The wrong time on a computer can cause problems.

problem? There is an article in Help & Support about resetting them.

Isn't code 39 an error message from the driver? You might find information
in Help & Support.
