Was one of the programs you uninstalled Roxio CD Creator?
If so, go to Start/Run/regedit, navigate to here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
And delete these two keys (and ONLY these two!):
"UpperFilters"=
"LowerFilters"=
Also navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\
And delete the following, if they exist:
Cdr4_2K
Cdralw2k
Cdudf
UdfReadr
Exit regedit, shutdown Windows and reboot.
Usual disclaimer about being careful when editing the registry applies.
Good idea to make sure you have a backup, just in case. Although
if you're careful the above changes won't harm anything.
