I've hooked up my analog Sony Hi8 camera using the DV Pass Through explained
in the Capturing Video in Windows Movie Maker 2.1 online help manual. The
instructions are clear saying to take out an DV in the DV camera. But when I
do that and click continue, Movie Maker prompts me to put in a DV. I tried a
blank DV thinking it was needed to pass along the Hi8. When I click capture,
Movie Maker then captures blank screen becasue there is nothing on the DV. Am
I doing something wrong or does anyone have suggestions?

You need to time taking out the tape into fooling MM that there is a tape in
there when it wants one and it isn't there when you don't want it to be.
It's a question of trial and error for timing, so set teh analogue cam to
play and then just try.
