DV-AVI error

When trying to save the movie as DV-AVI, I get an error message that the
program encountered an error and needs to shut down. It wants me to send the
error report to Microsoft, which I do. It says it has something to do with
Inter-Video. Not sure what I have that's Inter-Video (it's something like
....vidia.ax). I can save the movie using other formats, just not DV-AVI.
And, I want to use Nero to burn onto a DVD, which is why DV-AVI is my choice.

Any thoughts?

One of the more popular inter video products is windvd, so it could be a
codec interfering, see www.papajohn.org crashes and hangs, or if you use
MM2.1 then open up tools options compatibility

This is the error I get: Problem Description

An analyst at Microsoft has investigated this problem and determined that an
unknown error occurred in A Filter (IVIVIDEO.AX). This software was created
by InterVideo, Inc.

Can you tell me exactly how I get around this, or fix it?

Did you try the two items I mentioned before?
If so, I'd start google searching for something similar.

Thanks. I went to papajohns, but quite frankly, don't think I really
understood. I thought it was telling me to rename the .ax file, which I did
by adding a 1 right before the .ax. That didn't seem to do anything.

I guess I will try this.

Steve

Yes, it was, but it doesn't have the ivivideo.ax file in the list of problem
ones... I'm not encouring the renaming of those that are not listed as known
problems.

Excuse my lameness, but this is all getting pretty confusing. What do you
suggest I do to remedy? My next step was to go to the www.Kellys.org for the
renaming program. Is that not what's recommended?

I think I have WMM 2.0. Should I go up to 2.1? Should I upgrade my WinDVD?

Can you tell I'm confused. Thanks to all of you for the advice thus far.

Some recommend the John Kelly app... I've never tried it but have no reason
to advise you not to.

Yes, it can be confusing.... even at this end of trying to provide help.

I just checked my laptop and it too has the ivivideo.ax file, but I've never
had problems with it interfering with Movie Maker.

Makes me think I need to upgrade my versions. What versions of WMM and
WinDVD do you have?
