I have an 80gb hd in a removable caddy. I update files
between a dell 400mhz and an ibm 2.4ghrz. After updating
files, I get an error on the 2.4ghrz during post stating "
hard drive is now locked. enter password to continue (you
get 5 tries). On the 400hrz it gives "secondary drive
failure. hit f1 to continue or f2 for setup.
Anybody have any idea how to clear this other than
reformatting. Sure would like to save the data.
Thanks..
P.S A real Bugger!

Reformatting is not even going ot help you. This is a bios specific problem(not actually a problem but a security feature with your motherboard).
You may have to clear the cmos in order to get it back if you dont know the password. You may have to contact your computer manufacturer if you do not have any documentation.

I've already tried both. The 400mhz system see's the HD in
cmos. Cleared and tried again to no availe.
I e-mailed ASARock (the 2.4 manufaturer)and they have no
answer either. I haven't tried clearing cmos on the 2.4
yet. That may be a possibility.
