Are you running low on disk space? There are duplicate files in many
areas on a computer, it doesn't mean that any of these duplicates are
safe to delete, most are not safe to delete. Don't delete any file
unless you know what the file is and are absolutely sure that the dupe
isn't needed.

duplicates are tedious.

though there is freeware
available, i think it is better
to use the tools you already
have.

here is one method that you
can use.

open windows explorer and
launch the "search companion".

search your computer for
one extension at a time.
An example of the file types
you might want
to search for could be
something like *.tif or *.doc
or whatever is causing you
the issue at hand.

then search companion
will produce a large listing
of these file types.

the power you have now is
that you can compare them and
sort them either by folder or by date, etc...

you will likely be able
to sort them in a manner that
the dup's will bunch together then
you can simply block a
group of them and delete.

Other options you will have is
that you can rename the dup's or
move them as a group into a
single place, that is if they are
scattered all over your h.d.

one thing to keep in mind
that is a dup has the same file name
it may not be truly a dup if the
file sizes are different.

This one is excellent: It'll compare by contents, size, date, time, name,
etc etc. or any combo of those. Excellent program.

Sorry for the mispost. I have just done a search for *.pdf and I am getting
MANY duplicates with the same name, date and time, and size. I was searching
because I have just a bit of space on my C drive and of course things are
slow. I've read several posts here and I'm still not sure what to do.
