Duplicated (n-plicated) entries in Outlook 2003 archives

I experience annoying duplication (even 6-7 copies) od mails in the Outlook
2003 archives.
The archive files are growing unreasonably and to delete the duplicates is
definitely beyond my patience and time limits.

Anybody knows a tool to delete theme? Is there a setting preventing
automatical archiver to create new copies of mails in the archive (any
archiver can easily ask for overwite / update / do nothing option when it
finds the file being archived identical already in the archive)?

It happens with the IMAP accounts, which keep a copy of mails on mail server.

Thanks a lot,

Peter

there are some tools here:
http://add-ins-central.com/duplicateremovers.htm
It might be a problem unique to the IMAP account since messages deleted then
need to be purged from the server for them to be totally removed.

Bill,

thanx a lot, I will test it, it seems it may help. I know, the root reason
is the IMAP feature, which keeps the mails on server and once they are
archived and deleted from Outlook folders, next time I connect they are
downloaded again (ie. also archived later again).

The only FULL solution would be to set-up the Outlook archiver not create
multiple copies in the archive, but just update the archive by differencies.

But I still don't know if anyone in MS was thinking this way.

Thanks again,

Peter

A solution might be to have Outlook purge the deleted items from the IMAP
account after it archives. you could do that manually if you like.
