When I did a search for jpg files some files in a KODAK folder showed
up twice. They had the exact names and sizes, located in the same
directory. However, when I used a duplicate file finder, it didn't
find that these files were duplicated. So,I did a search again and
tried to delete one of the file that had a duplicate showing and both
images disappeared. Apparently they were not duplicates. Why did these
file show up twice in the searches?

Probably a link. Most Recent Documents shows links to files you have
last visited. But they are links. IIRC they show up in search twice.
