Dual booting question

Ok, I have WinXP on the 1st partion of the 1st Drive, and I would like
to put Windows2003 server on another separate partition.
I have 3 drives with a Linux OS on the 3rd drive and boots up fine.
I tried to install the windows server on a 2nd drive after I hid the 1st
partition, so as not to get an MS boot menu because I have my own 3rd
party boot program which I want to use. Anyway the OS wouldn't install
because it said that the partition was not a windows partition. This
said partiton is unformatted at the end of the 2nd drive outside an
extended partition.
What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks

delete the second partition , during install choose the un- partitioned
space and let 2003 do the work..

Are you talking about the unformatted partition on the 2nd drive? If so,
I tried that, then set/selected that un partitioned space, then it was
set to unformatted by the OS?? but then said it wasn't a windows
compatible partition!
Is it because I hid the first partition and the OS couldn't find
anywhere (at the beginning of the 1st drive) to place the boot files?
Just a thought.
