Since I don't use the Windows boot manager on my dual-booted laptop, I
can't help you even if I wanted to boot into Windows and do that
elaborate testing for you. I use Grub in the MBR because I almost never
boot into Windows on that machine. If you think your hard drive is
failing (and frankly, it sounds like that to me), it would be far
easier and more efficient to get a drive diagnostic utility from the
drive mftr.'s website. Boot with the utility and do a thorough test. If
the drive fails, replace it.
