I would like to make my computer dual-bootable with
Windows XP Professional and Windows 2000 Professional.
However when I install Windows XP my computer stalls. Do I
need to install XP first and than 2000 to get it to work
properly?

Installing the oldest OS first, newest OS last is correct. Always best to
install operating systems on separate partitions. We don't have any idea
what "stall" means here.
