dual boot WinXP & Win7

My hard disk is partition into C and D
Intend to install Win7 to D

when removing Win7,
can I simply delete D from C and change the contents of boot.ini in C?

Download and install on the XP EasyBCD edit.

Find the option to restore the XP boot.

No, I haven't tried Windows 7 but I know for a fact that it does not use
the same boot mechanism as Windows XP, it most probably uses the same
process as Vista and Server 2008. You will have to return the boot
process to ntldr, booting to the XP Recovery Console and issuing the
fixmbr and fixboot commands should do the trick.
