http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306559 advises:
" Install the operating systems in the following order:
1. MS-DOS
2. Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows Me
3. Windows NT
4. Windows 2000
5. Windows XP"

Easiest to hide drive partitions or extensions from one another until
you get the interactions right -- partition boot arbitrators do that.
I've Ranish in mind.
