Can it be done where vista64 is preinstalled? I created a new
partition in vista64 but win2k setup doesn't see drive letter assigned
and only seems to want to completely format c: before install. It sees
the partition but with a "--:" with no drive letter. I really need to
install win2k but don't want to lose vista64. But I feel like I'm
wasting valuable time. I'm hoping that someone can tell me if this can
be done or not? and if so and most importantly.....how?

Check out these people. You can accomplish a dual boot installing "Earlier
Versions Of Windows" after Vista. They have a nice program and forum for
support. And they are not rude or condescending like some of the volunteers
here.

If the disk drive you're dealing with is larger than 137GB, Windows
2000 setup won't be able to handle the drive properly.

Are there workarounds? Yes. One way is to temporarily use a PCI
controller which allows you to load a 48-bit LBA capable Windows
driver (F6) during setup. Once Windows 2000 is installed, apply SP4
and add EnableBigLba into the registry. Then the PCI controller can be
removed. Of course, you still have to repair the Vista boot manager
settings.
