I have a two partitions called "C" and "D" on a160 GB drive. The C
drive has WinXP home sp2 installed and it is giving problems.
( Microsoft help has been unable to help me solve the problem. ) Can I
install the same Winxp on D and try if that works OK? If it does then
I will just format "C" and reinstall other prgms on it.
Thanks

Yes you can. Install the same way you would normally with the installation
CD but point the installation to the other partition.

Since you are going to reinstall Win XP, you can also try doing a "Repair
Install" on your C: drive. You may need to uninstall SP2 before you do that
(if your CD is pre-SP2). That may fix your problems.

Best Wishes,

Just make sure you perform a backup of your D drive (if you have data on
it) before doing this.

The second XP install will always be on D. The boot files will be C.
If you format C, you will have to repair the XP boot.
