I just bought a new 80Gig HDD to add to my current 40Gig
Drive. The current 40Gig drive is partitioned
10Gigs/10Gigs/20Gigs with the first partition being
Win98, the second partition being WinXP and the 3rd
partition has no OS installed. I partitioned the new 80G
drive to 40/40 and plan to reformat the 40 gig drive bto
its full size of 40 Gigs. I used MaxBlast 3 to copy the
complete disk images of the OS drives to the new drive
but am unable to boot with the new drives. I've used the
Recovery Console to rebuild the Master Boot Record and
the Boot Sector of the new drive, and the drive does load
the OS selection screen just fine. Win98 won't load due
to a non-system disk error which is problematic, but the
real problem is that XP hangs on startup. Safe-mode or
not. I think its hanging because wen the registry loads
the system is trying to change the drive letter of the
boot drive, but that's not for-sure. I reinstalled XP
from the CD but when I did that, it swapped the drive
letters so that my D: drive was C: and the C: drive was
not loaded at all (until i go to disk management and give
it a drive letter). I need to get XP installed with the
drive letters in the right places. Lots of software
stops working when the drive letters are reversed. I'd
GREATLY Appreciate any help anyone might have, this
project has been going on for 3 days now, and I want my
PC Back!!!
